Aims
Strength train to combat osteoporosis
Before and After
Gained 8% bone density in one year, reversing the effects of osteoporosis
Fran first came to us because a doctor friend of hers suggested that she start strength training after diagnosis of osteoporosis. The standard of care for osteoporosis is a drug known as bisphosphonates. These can have unpleasant side effects and are not expected to produce results in the first year. Weight-bearing exercise, however, only has positive side effects (except for a little soreness the day after).
After a year of training with us, Fran not only found mobility, strength and fitness that she saw transfer to other areas of her life but saw an 8% increase in bone density. We’re very proud to say that she still trains with us and has referred many other clients to us over the years.
